HOME SERIES: DESIGN*SPONGE DELIVERS

All hail the chief.....well, or just "thanks," Design*Sponge.  I was really excited to see my house published on the reigning design site.  If you didn't get to see the post, check it out HERE!

I have put up a few of the photos of my house that didn't make the post for you here as well.  I'd love to tell you more about putting things together in my house, so please feel free to ask questions here in the comments.....and remember I'm taking clients for interior design projects and would love to here from you!!!  xxoo

This chair is from West Elm and I added the big Euro cushion and had my friend Jesse Kamm's linen tortoise shell fabric made into a sham.  I wanted to connect the black and white theme into a part of this room, so we exchanged babysitting for an edition of the print done with black ink on white linen.

home series: feels like.....france or italy?

So......here it is!!!  The back garden and now patio.....no longer backyard!  The plants have some growing in to do, but I think you can see that it will just get better and better.  It is an amazing difference.  Our hand-me-down chairs and table that still remind me of my childhood when I look out the window do fit perfectly into the small space for a table.

I wanted steel edging, because I love the clean straight lines and contemporary touch next to the soft plants.  The border all the way around is bamboo muhly, which will grow in considerably and look really feathery and full.
These photos of me in my 'ole yeller pants were taken by my hubby's GoPro - kinda cool even though all you can get is this fish eye view everytime.  It's kind of our new favorite thing.  It is mostly for action video taking.

This is Cash our cute pup that has his own grass patch now....Have a great weekend!

home series: backyard breakdown

A few weeks ago, we broke ground in the mud pit called our backyard and began a little project that we have wanted to do for a long time.  I chose KD Design to do the work, and here are some photos of them getting down and dirty, while putting in the steel edging that frames the new landscaping.  Dave Tekyl, the owner, could not have been more nice and easy to work with.  It was so cool to have him take our ideas and put them into his own design.

Check in tomorrow to see the big reveal of how it turned out!  You are gonna love it!

welcome to my home!

My Home Series.....
Come on in...make yourself cozy.....grab a seat.  This is the entry to our house built in 1905.  It was moved and updated in 1991, so it has some features that are not original and not as great as the original would have been, but the builder was a restorer of old homes and tried to keep it in the same Victorian style.  Since moving in, we have done a little updating ourselves to make it just a little more contemporary and ours.  Here we are - a shot taken from inside the front door.

As mentioned before, we painted the walls white from a yellow and more recently also the trim to a true white (Behr -"Frost") from a very very off-white, then all the doors Black (Behr -"Beluga").  I put in this cordless white roller mess sunshade and think it looks nice and simple.  The light fixture was a more recent purchase and I bought on Etsy from Jean Pelle.  The long hand-made bench was a find from Sacramento, from the antique mart, where I found lots of unrecognized gems.  I chalked up the finds in old Sactown to not a high demand for style, so the prices seemed fantastic after living in NY and I had great luck there (one of the few perks). The rug was a hand-me-down from my every-so-stylish mamacita.  She has a lot of great rugs, which we will have to showcase later in a post. Nice to be the child of a mom with taste!
These posters I bought at the Renegade Craft Fair and were printed by a creative group that offices together and calls themselves "Public School" in Austin.  I framed them in red, thinking I wanted some color in the entry, as well as a contemporary juxtaposition to the Victorian details.  Simple.
